Bedroom wall art: what to choose and where to hang it

Above the bed, beside it, or opposite it — how to pick calm, personal art that is the right size for the space.

A bedroom is the most personal room in the house, so it suits softer colours and more meaningful pieces than the living room. It also has one obvious focal point: the wall behind the bed.

Above the bed

For a queen or king bed, art spanning about two-thirds of the headboard width looks balanced — a single 24 × 36 in piece, two 18 × 24 in frames, or three A3+ frames in a row. Leave 8–10 inches above the headboard. If you have a low headboard, you can hang a little lower so the art feels connected to the bed.

Beside the bed and opposite it

Narrow walls beside the bed suit a single A4 or A3+ frame, or two stacked vertically. The wall opposite the bed is what you see first in the morning — a good place for a favourite photo or a calm landscape.

What works in a bedroom

  • A couple or wedding photo frame, designed with your own pictures.
  • Gentle abstract pieces in muted colours.
  • For children’s rooms: name boards, baby milestone frames and playful animal art.
  • Bedroom wall art
  • Couple & love photo frames
  • Nature wall art
